Acne is a skin disorder which is the result of hormonal imbalance and some substances like the sebaceous glands and hair follicles.

Acne is also known by different names such as zits or pimples. These factors clog the pores and the result is acne.

This is mainly found on the various parts of the body such as back, face, shoulders, neck and chest.

This is not treated as a serious health threat but it is considered as a source of emotional distress for some people. Some acne can even cause permanent scarring on the affected areas.

Causes of Acne

The cause of acne is unknown but there are some factors which lead to acne. One of the major causes of acne is increase in hormones known as androgens.

This is caused in both boys and girls during the period of puberty and makes the sebaceous glands enlarge and creates more sebum. Another cause of acne is heredity which can be inherited from parents.

This medicine can be applied directly on the affected areas with acne. There are some side effects also with the use of this medicine such as burning, skin irritation or redness. Some of over the counter topical medicines are:-

Here is an article I found about acne scars.

Keeping your skin free from acne scars

Many people suffering from acne are familiar with the problem of acne scars. While acne is enough of a problem on its own, the issue of more or less permanent scars makes everything even more complicated. Pimples are a tempting target for squeezing or picking open in what may be seen as a futile attempt to get rid of them. However, squeezing and picking is exactly what you should refrain from doing because it will only make everything worse.

I know that you heard this advice a million times, but do try to keep your hands away fro your face. For one thing, your hands have a lot of germs and bacteria, mainly because the hands are the most exposed part of the body, the limbs with which you grab and use all manner of not very clean objects. This means that bringing your hands in contact with your face skin is guaranteed to transfer a load of germs and bacteria from the hand to the face. Worse, all these germs and bacteria are transferred exactly in the area where your squeezing is opening a breach in the skin. In other words, you are bringing the enemy right to the gate.

Depending on the type of acne you are suffering from and on your face skin type, pimples that have been picked or squeezed open can turn to scars, leaving an unpleasantly looking skin behind. While squeezing pimples is not a good idea, but tolerable within certain bounds, you should absolutely refrain from trying to remove scars yourself. This is definitely a job for a trained physician who uses the right tools for the job. Tampering with scars will make matters worse. If you feel you cannot live with them, then make an appointment with a dermatologist and have them removed.

hey there- im was in the same position as you. i was a face wash junkie very prduct you could imagine - you name it its been on my face then i finally said im DONE - so then i just started washing my face with DOVE exfoliating bar- and that helped to keep it clean then this time i really really really did my reasearch and i found this NOXZEMA stuff [about $3.50] @ CVS - and there Anti Blemish Pads in a orange/blue *cup* and then withing like 4 days i found that my skin was VERY VERY soft and smoother then ive ever had it

-- also i had very bad pimples all read and blotcy - ive only been using this product for a week so i still have a couple smallpimples [ thats how good it is ]

* also not drying use like 2 times a day wash your face with dove in the morning and at night [ wipe whole face down with one pad morning and night] then during middle of day take random pad and wipe face down for continuous clean. this is not at all drying - but it makes yur pimples disappear and make your skin smoother ! DEFF reccomend it total [ like a little under $10 [ all together ]
Well, try drinking lots of water, as it hydrates the skin nicely! :)

Also, be sure to make sure your skin is free from oils by not eating a lot of junk food. If I were you, I would wash your face in the morning and at night with water and soap.

Thats what I do for my skin :]
Try a glycolic acid peel...

I have them too, and will attempt it as soon as the dermatologist frees up. Kind of expensive, but cheaper compared to the cost of creams I have tried over 5 years.
i dont know but are you scratching it? if you are, thats probably why it's leaving scars. do not scratch it, whatever you do. It just makes it worse.
try proacive
